Welcome to American Legion

Each year the TOY Program recognizes the high School senior who has best served his community, school and church. Since 1956 this award has been bestowed upon exceptional high school students who have gone on to become leaders of our Terrebonne Parish community.

At the beginning of the school year, the commander of Post 31 invites the administrations of each of the seven high schools in Terrebonne Parish to nominate up to four students.

These nominees are then invited along with their families, school principals and mentors, to attend a banquet in their honor. At the culmination of the banquet, the top student or Teenager or the Year, chosen by a blind panel of veterans and educators, is announced and awarded a plaque, a scholarship and possibly offered a summer internship with the Parish.

In 2018 we also added the Educator of the Year to this award process.

Teenager of the Year Program
