Lenox-Hotard Post 31
602 Legion Avenue, Houma, LA 70364
Our winner was Micheala Rowsey, a Senior, from Houma Christian. She is the Daughter of Michael and Kristie Rowsey. Micheala give a prepared speech entitled, "Democracy by Generations." But her impromptu speech that discussed the 21st amendment was just as professional. She is a talented young lady, and we can't wait to see how she does at the State Competition. Trey Jones was her competitor from Covenant Christian. He is a Junior and he was very good and his prepared remarks were very well thought-out. We look forward to his return next year.
Every year we offer a competition for those high school students who would like to learn more about our US Constitution and the Amendments. The contest involves a 10 minute speech that is prepared in advance. The second speech is given on one of four topics about the completion.
The winner at the district level is able to compete at the State level and then the State winner goes on the Indianapolis to compete at the National level. The winner of each level is given a monetary award as much as $15,000.
